We’ve all asked ourselves that question. Should I get a tattoo or will I change my mind afterward? I always said I would never get one because I’m such an indecisive person. I change me mind about a lot of things just like my style changes and evolves. Sometimes I love a trend and then hate it a few weeks later. Is it just me or are you like that too?
When it comes to something so permanent– definitely think more than twice. I would say ask yourself more– than asking other people what they think. Older people will definitely say not to, and your friends will definitely encourage you to get one because we think they look awesome and we’re in a time of freeing our creativity. But remember it’s on your body forever. Until you laser it off. Ha ha!
I have one behind my ear. It’s a music note. I like it because it does mean something to me since singing and music has been a huge passion of mine since I was a child. I don’t regret it but I definitely made a rash decision with my friend when getting it done. I only thought about it for a few hours and then got it done. I tried to ignore my mom’s voice at that very moment “What did you do to yourself?” Luckily, when she found out– she wasn’t as mad as I thought she would be– I flew back home at the time and her focus was on how happy she was to see me for the holidays. Great buffer!
Definitely take a little more time to think about it, unlike me. Make sure it’s something that really means something to you. Also, stick with your gut feeling. If you really don’t want one, then don’t get one. Nowadays it’s alright to have our own voice, opinion and style. You don’t have to conform to what others expect you to have.
In other words, individuality is “cool,” if you will. Our generation is great at showing everyone that tattoos, hair color, and piercing’s (which I do have– but a whole other post on that story) doesn’t define us or make us “cool” or “un-cool.” Normalcy is trendy nowadays so lets all be our kind of normal– whatever that may be– and not duplicate what others do just because.
